Life is Too Easy

Life is too Easy

And I’m not saying that to brag.

Life is too easy in modern society.

We are spoiled.

When something doesn’t go our way we get upset. We feel entitled to having reality unfold in a neat way. We have expectations of how things should be – or we resort to complaints.

But the only thing we are entitled to are our thoughts and actions. Not the events that unfold.

How many times have you not thought: “I wish things were more challenging and exciting..”

Well guess what?

It’s up to you to MAKE it so!

Use your boredom and irritation as fuel for the fire and transmute it into motivation to work as diligently as you possibly can on making things change. Use your energy for something creative.

Impose Rules and Limitations

Do it to motivate yourself.

Do it to limit your choice — so that you can focus on just one or two things instead of ten things. Multitasking leads nowhere.

Step it up and push yourself further and reach that next level of skill.

Tell yourself you won’t EAT until you finish reading that book.

Force yourself to do 20 more reps before you are allowed to leave the gym – make yourself feel pain before you even allow yourself to THINK about quitting and going home.

If you’re out and feeling unsocial and introverted, force yourself to talk to people. Just get started and soon you will have fun.

"I'll beat you if you give up on yourself, fool!"

“I’ll beat you if you give up on yourself, fool!”

Stick to these rules you create.

Inspire your friends to do the same thing, and you can keep each other accountable.

Know your Limitations

Of course this all has to do with knowing your own limitations and what works well to motivate you.

You have to be sure you impose a limitation that is doable but challenging.

When I tell myself I won’t eat or do ANYTHING else but to finish what I’m doing — it feels hard, but I know it can be done.

It might feel tough or strenuous, but it will make me that much stronger.

It will push my mental limitations and force me to keep concentrated for a longer amount of time and increase the ability for me to focus for prolonged periods of time. It is one of those things that separate champions from the norm, undivided focus.

Ever since I started doing this I have slept like a baby.

I wake up without feeling drowsy in the morning. I wake up feeling motivated – and I tell myself that I will push it even further today and do an even better job than I did yesterday.

Of course there’s been a bunch of other stuff I’ve done to increase the quality of my sleep – but the 80/20 of it is to consistently work hard and push yourself to do MORE than your brain wants to do – every day

If you are not generally sleeping well you are not putting in enough effort or challenging yourself to push it to the limit, period.

By the time you go to bed it should feel like your brain is really scrambled – almost like being drunk. It feels really cool actually. T

his is your reward for actually using your brain as opposed to watching TV or relaxing.

I WILL STEP ON YOU TO WIN

I saw a scrawny, geeky dude at the gym that seemed furious with life. He was wearing a ridiculous T-shirt like this one.

I wish I could’ve taken a picture of him, it was hilarious!

But then again, I never bring my phone to the gym.

I’m sure HE was imposing some new rules on himself and taking action – and that’s probably why he looked so uncomfortable and furious.

  3. “I WILL BEAT YOU IF YOU GIVE UP FOOL!”

    -Hahahaahhhh.

“Hold your friends accountable to these rules and get in their face if any of them are giving in to fear and weakness. Help them be their best selves by not allowing them to give up!”

-thats a good concept. I wish more of my friends would be doing this as much as i am tho.. It always feels like i am the one who has to “boost” everyone else – but it is rarely reciprocated. I guess i should focus on hanging out iwth better people

    • ;)

Yeah I think that concept is really important. Definitely something essential to develop with your friends!

If you are serious about your personal development you should keep going until you find it.
